How to prepare for a Tesla Road Trip.

Road tripping has been a popular form of travel for many decades. Families will pile into their giant SUVs and station wagons and cruise from point A to point B stopping as needed. Stops would typically occur, including bathroom breaks, food, the periodic leg stretch, and most importantly, fuel.

With the rise of electric vehicles worldwide, and more specifically within the united states, many road trippers will still follow the same steps, except for fuel which is now competing with electricity. As my family and I prepare to take our first major road trip since 2019, I began to look into what I would need to prepare for a 700+ mile journey in an EV properly. Below are some of the best ways I have found to prepare for your EV-based road trip.

My Vehicle and Family

To start, let’s go over what vehicle I am driving and how large my family is. We will be operating my 2018 Tesla Model 3 Mid Range for this trip to Universal Studios Orlando. This model gets an estimated 260 miles per full charge. To date, my vehicle will max out at 252 miles at 100%.
